A young pastor from the Vineyard recently asked me, "Do you appreciate small groups?" My immediate response was laughter. Then I realized that he was asking seriously, and I almost cried. What a surprise that someone in the Vineyard - especially the leader - thinks I don't appreciate small groups. I think that clarifying my personal history and my point of view on this important issue will help us.

The process of spiritual growth is characterized by certain key moments, which I call moments of power. Moments of power are based on our interaction with objective indicators of basic Christian truths that guide us towards maturity. If we strictly follow them, they change the direction of our lives.

Hundreds of books have been written about the church as people of God, about the body of Christ, about communion with the Holy Spirit. I do not claim more than a basic knowledge of what God wants to do today in and through the church. I'm still studying. In this article, I want to take a few modest steps in expanding the boundaries of what we understand about the church as a Messianic society, and applying it to the Vineyard movement.

And I also say this not because this book answers all the difficult questions about divine healing. No, I thank God for “Healing by the Power of the Holy Ghost,” because this book reminds us that in the depths of His heart, God desires to give and forgive.
